How to Determine Which Wire Activates Back Up Camera on 2018 Phoenix by Shasta 28.5 RL
Question:
We have a 2018 Phoenix by Shasta 28.5 RL, pre-wired for back up camera. There is a green and white wire at the camera outlet, and a white wire. Where does the power supply originate in the trailer, as the green and white wire has no power. We are trying to hook up a TFT Monitor Digital Vehicle Security system and can not find where the green and white wire originates so we can connect the power to the camera.

I have an easy way for you to determine which wire has power but we can't tell by just the wire colors. Most likely though the white wire is the ground since that the industry standard for the ground circuit and the green is the activation circuit that provides power for the camera. What you'll want to do is test the green wire with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 but you'll have to have the tow vehicle attached and you'll want to first try with the running lights on and then when the reverse lights are on. With one of those two circuits activated you should see the circuit tester light up.
