Can PowerGate Electric Tailgate Lock # 311-LK280 Connect to Power Near Tailgate on an '09 Silverado

On a 2009 Chevy hd2500 with the ltz package is there a wire near the tailgate to hook up your electric opener or do I need to come from the fusebox?

Although it is possible that there is a wire somewhere near the tailgate of your 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500 that you could use to power the Pace Edwards PowerGate Electric Tailgate Lock # 311-LK280, they have provided enough wiring to run directly to your battery so that it isn't dependant on OEM wiring.
By using the supplied wiring you won't have to worry about overloading any wiring on your pickup and it will be much easier to diagnose a problem if some of the wiring were to get damaged somehow.
I recommend following the linked instructions for this kit and running the wire directly to your battery.
