Will Yakima RocketBox Rooftop Cargo Create Sway at Over 60 mph?

Question:

Would a 2000 Rocketbox make a 97 Landcruiser sway when going over 60mph? Its not centered - do you think that would stop the sway? We have it in the shop and the guys say its the box....

Adding a Rocketbox # Y07192 to your roof should not create sway under normal conditions even if it is mounted off center on your 1997 Toyota Landcruiser. It will give you a higher center of gravity, so you will feel the effects of body roll if you are in extremely windy crosswind conditions and with passing semi-trucks or other large vehicles.

One way to determine if the box is the issue is to remove the box from the top and drive without it or with it inside the vehicle.

Having the box off-centered is not uncommon but having it centered will help the load to be distributed more evenly and may make the ride smoother, but again having it off-centered if loaded correctly would not create sway. Many of the boxes only have the single side loading option so most of the time they are mounted off-center. I've attached a video and the page link to assist further.
