Solution for Turn Signal Error Message on 2017 F-150 When Using Lighted Hitch Cover
Question:
Tried this for my Ford F150 so I would not have to hit the button to disable the start stop system every time I get in. When towing that system is disabled automatically. It worked for that purpose, however the dash display says constantly fault in left or right blinkers every time I use them. I have a F350 2010 as well that it works great for, even though I dont need it for that due to it does not have the start stop system. The computer in that one didnt have an issue with it. probably Ford didnt have a trailer blinker awareness system built into the computer yet. Is there a way to get this to work without the truck itself thinking it is suppose to have blinkers with it? Or will I need to actually get a different item that functions with blinkers? Thanks

The only way to use your Pilot Skull Lighted Hitch Cover # CR-018 with your 2017 Ford F-150 without getting the turn signal error message would be to hardwire in a new 4-Way connector like # HM48030 to use with the cover. This will allow you to bypass the trailer tail light sensors on the truck so that the error message doesn't come up.
I realize this sounds like silly workaround since you already have a working 4-Way but it is unfortunately the only option that would prevent that error message from appearing with the hitch cover.
Otherwise like you mentioned you can just go with a lighted hitch cover that flashes with the turn signals as well like the Pilot # CR-007.
