Yakima Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for 2011 Chevy Equinox

Question:

I am looking for a bike rack for a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. I don’t see the Equinox listed as one of the vehicles that this bike rack will fit. Do you have a suggestion? I am looking to avoid needing to have a hitch installed.

Yakima does offer trunk mounted bike racks that are a fit for your 2011 Chevy Equinox, but the Hangout that you referenced is not a fit. The most similar trunk rack that Yakima does offer as a fit is the Yakima FullBack part # Y02634 which is a nicer version rack than the Hangout which doesn't cost too much more. This rack has more adjustability for the arms of the rack that carry the bikes, has a wider contact area for the pads of the rack that touch the vehicle to better distribute the weight of the rack and bikes, and has nicer bike frame cradles. It also includes locks for both the rack and the bikes to secure theft.

If you plan on carrying any women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
