Is Roadmaster Stowmaster Tow Bar Compatible with EZ4 Base Plate Kit on 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Question:

We are trading for a new 2012 Chevrolet Equinox and therefore will need new base plates for our tow bar. We have a Roadmaster model Stowmaster tow bar. Will the 3160-1A base plate that you show adapt to the Stowmaster hitch that we already have? Also, I see in another RV catalog that they show a Reese T-Connector and also a Hopkins T-Connector that plugs directly into the electrical system of an Equinox so there would be no need for rewiring or tapping into the electrical lines. Do you know anything about these items? Do they work and do you sell them? Thanks for any info on the above items that you can give me.

The Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit, part # RM-523160-4 is compatible with all Roadmaster Tow Bars, Including your Stowmaster.

I believe the T-connector that you are referring to is the wiring harness for towing a trailer behind your vehicle. For wiring, you could use the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154. If you do not plan to tow your Equinox often, you could go with a set of magnetic lights like the Magnetic Towing Light Kit, part # RM-2120.

To complete your towing setup, you will need safety cables like # RM-643 (if you don't already have them) and a supplemental braking system. I really like the Stay-IN-Play DUO, # SM99251 braking system. Once installed you just flip a switch to get ready to tow.

I checked the 'recreational towing' section of an online copy of your owner's manual, and have determined that your vehicle is capable of being flat towed, but there's a specific procedure outlined in the manual that needs to be followed to prevent damaging the drivetrain components, so please read and follow to the letter.

I have linked to some FAQ articles on flat-towing that you may find as a good reference.
