Which Tires Should Chains be Used on For 2018 Toyota RAV4 AWD

Question:

Is one set of chains adequate for an AWD vehicle? Are there instances where chains would be required for all wheels by state authorities? Thanks in advance for your reply.

I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2018 Toyota RAV4. Under the section for snow chains it does state that chains should only be used on the front tires and should not be used on the rear tires at all. I am not aware of any state laws that would require that chains be used on all 4 tires but you may want to check the local regulations where you plan to travel to be sure.

The two most common tire sizes for your RAV4 are 225/65-17 and 235/55-18. If your vehicle is equipped with either of these two sizes I recommend taking a look at the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH01594245. These are confirmed to fit either of those tire sizes and they feature a self-tensioning system that allows for quick and easy installation. They are also Class S rated which means they will work on vehicles that have limited wheel well clearance like your RAV4. Two tire chains are included so this is all you will need!.

I have attached an installation video that demonstrates these chains being put on the front wheels of a 2018 RAV4 that you can use for reference.
