Brake Controller for a 2016 Chevy Silverado with a Clean Installation Look
Question:
Is it possible to install an oem in dash brake controller if my 2016 Chevy Silverado has the towing package? I have read all kinds of info and it seems everyone says you can’t. It only works if it is factory installed.

I do have an alternate solution for you to have a clean-looking brake controller installation but if you are wanting to install an OEM controller on your 2016 Chevy Silverado then you would need to speak with a Chevy dealer for information about that as we only carry aftermarket controllers.
If you are wanting to keep from installing a brake controller that will sit next to your knee while you are towing then I recommend installing the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR. The brains for this controller can be installed pretty much anywhere which then allows you a variety of mounting locations for the control knob. Since you have the tow package you just need the adapter # 3016-S to connect it to your Silverado.
For a nice clean installation you can also use a cover like part # 331-TPSI-001 for the control knob.
Another thing that is great about the Tow-Pro Elite is the ability to switch from proportional braking (braking at the same time and power as your brake pedal) to time-delayed braking (brakes at a predetermined time and strength). Attached is a demonstration video and a sample installation video for you to check out.
