Recommended Platform Bike Rack for 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon with Backup Camera

When folded up, does the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 block the backup camera of a Subaru Outback?

Based on my research it looks like the factory backup camera on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon is located just above the rear license plate bracket. If this is the case on your model Outback then the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack # SH12P that you referenced will most likely obscure the view when it's folded up but it shouldn't render the camera useless. You should still have a partial view with the bike rack in this position but you may not be able to rely on the camera when backing up into tight spaces.

Another platform-style rack I recommend looking at that will provide you a better view with the camera is the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack # KU74FR. This carrier does not have a central mast like the Sherpa 2.0, providing a greater window for visibility when the rack is folded and not in use. I have attached an image of this carrier folded up on a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon so you can see exactly what I mean.

This is a really nice carrier that features ratcheting hooks that hold the bikes by their front wheels without any frame contact.
