Can Extension Piece on Thule Roof Cargo Basket # TH859XT-8591XT Be Removed

Question:

I have a 2018 jeep Rubicon JL, I want to order the Thule Roof Basket with extension. Can the extension be remove to take the basket back down to 49 in long if I need to reduce the space? With the extension it will go over my freedom top, which would limit my use of the removable top. Or should I just order the Thule Roof Basket TH859XT without extension.

Yes, the extension on theThule Roof Cargo Basket # TH859XT-8591XT can be removed so that you can use the basket in its original length of 49 inches. With the extension added the basket measures 69 inches long. If you think you will use the extension piece at some point on the vehicle then this is definitely the way to go, since it gives you the option of going with either the longer or shorter cargo basket.
