Brake Controller Recommendation for Electric Over Hydraulic Trailer Brakes and 2011 Chevy Silverado
Question:
Will the Intergraded trailer breaking system on the new 2011 Chevy 2500 HD truck work with electric over Hyd trailer breaks

Depending on the hydraulic actuator on the trailer, the integrated brake controller on a 2011 Chevy Silverado may or may not be compatible. If your 2011 has a setting for electric over hydraulic braking systems and you do not have the issue of the actuator running for about 1 second every 5 seconds or so, then it will work.
If there is no setting for electric over hydraulic brakes and/or you find that the actuator is cycling, the best solution is to install an aftermarket brake controller that is compatible with electric over hydraulic braking systems. I have included a link to an FAQ article that explains what you will need to do in order to install the brake controller.
For a compatible brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our most popular controllers because it is easy to use and easy to set up. I have included a link to the installation details for it for you to view.
