Does Prodigy P3 Brake Controller Need to be Switched Off When Not in Use

Question:

I followed your video for wiring power to a Tekonsha P3 on a 2018 F150 with your hardwire kit. Since the circuit breaker is wired straight to the battery the unit stays on all the time. I don’t want to disconnect the unit whenever I’m not towing but how do I keep it from draining the battery? I read you don’t recommend wiring a switch which is what I was going to do. Is there another of doing this? What am I missing?

The P3 brake controller part # 90195 is designed to go into sleep mode if left alone long enough which basically means it doesn't draw any power. The reason you don't want to cut power or ground to the controller is that when you do this you end up losing all of the presets of the controller.
