Will Disc Brake Surge Actuator Pressure Damage Drum Brake Assemblies
Question:
We recently purchased a 28 foot, twin engine boat and trailer and I replaced the old surge o matic model 10 actuator with the titan model 10 for drum brakes. Also replaced the drum brakes with your titan 12inch drum brake assembly x 2 for the rear axle. Being a knucklehead, I installed the larger disk brake orifice rather than the smaller holed orifice for drums. Is there a risk of damage to the new 12inch brake assemblies or wheel cylinders from too high pressure? The old surge o matic used the larger orifice, but your titan products call for the smaller orifice connector T1209800. I basically used the T4750300. They work great, but maybe too great?

Expert Reply:
Disc brakes typically require about 400 more PSI than drum brakes so there is definitely a risk you'll damage your wheel cylinders on your drum assemblies. You really need to remove the orifice and replace it with the drum brake one like part # T1209800.
