How to Pick Out Redarc DC to DC Battery Charger for Battery Bank that's 200 Amp Hours

Question:

Hello - I am planning on setting up a dual battery AGM 75-100ah system with the Redarc DC to DC charger 331-BCDC1225D, fuses, etc. in my vehicle and then run a wire to the rear to also charge my tear trailers batteryies single AGM 100ah, but may expand to two when towing. Will the 331-BCDC1225D model be sufficient for this, or should I use the 40amp model? Also, can I run the vehicle wires from my cars auxiliary battery to the rear or do I need to split it near the Redarc unit with a BusBar? Great Redarc DC to DC charger installation video, by the way!

Helpful Expert Reply:

For your current setup the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D would work well as it is intended for charging battery banks that are rated between 75 and 200 amp-hours. You'd be right at 200 amp-hours so if you know you are going to add another 100 aH battery you'd want to go up to the # 331-BCDC1240D which is designed for battery banks 200 aH and higher. You'd be able to run the wires directly without needing a buss bar too.

I attached the link to the install video you mentioned as well.
