Although the dual-jaw design system on the Reese 16K # RP30047 and the single-jaw design on the Reese Select Plus 20K # RP30081 are both safe, I prefer the single-jaw design.
With the single-jaw there are less moving parts and the jaw essentially "hugs" the king pin inside the hitch as opposed to the dual-jaws which grip around the king pin themselves.
Again, both designs are great and perfectly safe, but the Select Plus is definitely the way to go when it comes to ride comfort when compared to the 16K version.
