How Do I Prevent a Rough Ride While Unloaded Using Helper Springs

Question:

I previously installed the load lifter 5000 air bag kit on my 2016 F150 but had to remove it because the ride quality without a load was terrible. Does this kit affect the unloaded ride quality of the truck? Can I run them with little to no air in the bags? I dont feel like wasting another $400 Thanks

Expert Reply:

The Air Lift Ride Control Air Helper Springs part # AL59570 which are a fit for your 2016 Ford F-150 should not really affect the ride quality while the airbags are deflated. How much air pressure are you running while unloaded? The minimum and what I recommend is 5 psi as this is going to prevent the airbags from deforming and it shouldn't really have any effect on ride quality.

If after reducing the air pressure you are still not happy with the unloaded ride quality, they do have a 60 day satisfaction guarantee. The other option you have is to return them and use something that will have absolutely no effect on ride quality while unloaded expect when you hit a bump and that is the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TFR1504E.
