Can 2018 Ram 3500 with Ram Box Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer.

Question:

I have a 2018 Ram 3500 CC SRW limited short bed with rambox and without factory prep. Im having Reese Goosebox installed on my 5th wheel but need to know what gooseneck setup i need for truck bed. Should I go with traditional rail kit and use Anderson Ultimate, a BandW turnover ball or something else.

The problem with the Ram Boxes is that they make the bed rails so narrow that you can't make turns with a fifth wheel trailer even if you are using a Goose Box. Normally we have to recommend people use a Sidewinder pin box replacement as it's the only pin box that pivots higher and prevents interference with the Ram Boxes.

Since you are installing a Goose Box that means you'd have most likely the Lippert 1621 style pin box and the Sidewinder you'd need is part # RP34FR or you have the 1716 style and need the # RP97FR as well.

You'd need a rail kit installed in your 2018 Ram 3500 like the # RP50085-58 which is a custom install kit that will minimize drilling and install time. You'd need a fixed hitch to go with this too like the Reese part # RP30928 and the correct wedge part # SWW-01.

I know this isn't probably the answers you were looking for, but for your truck it's the only way to tow a fifth wheel trailer.
