Where to Get Safe Brake Light Signal on Vehicle for Brake Controller Install
Question:
I had a very old Sentinel brake controller I was having intermittent issues with so I decided to up grade to the P3 Controller I purchased from you verified existing wiring with the new unit and wire in the new P3 accordingly. I powered up the unit and started programming it when I hit the manual brake switch the unit insistently smoked and died! I had read the warnings about the Ford products doing this if the brake light switch was wired on the wrong wire, but thought nothing of it because this is a Nissan not a Ford and it was being replaced with an brake controller wiring that had no problems. I tested the connection at the brake switch 4 wire switch and the wire the controller is on worked but goes directly to ground when pedal is not depressed hence the the controller Fired. Where on this vehicle can I pick up a brake signal that will not fry the unit? In the mean time I am out $130.00 for the P3 unit!

Sorry to hear about the issue you had. For a safe universal brake signal system we have the part # RM-751000 which you can install on your vehicle and have a safe way to get a brake light signal.
