Troubleshooting Electric Trailer Brakes Locking up in Reverse

Question:

Ive recently installed a P3 Controller onto my 2005 Tacoma. All controls and lights work as designed except backing up. When in reverse, my brakes are locking up. Any ideas??

It sounds like the issue may be that you have a short somewhere between the brake output circuit and reverse light circuit which is causing your brakes to lock up when you put your '05 Tacoma in reverse. Or you could have something mis-wired which is causing the problem so you need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2979 and test your Tacoma's 7-way to ensure that all of the wires are properly connected.

You can use the diagram I have added in order to see what functions your 7-way should have.
