Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring that All Flashes with Right Blinker

Question:

My 65Trailblazer camper exterior lights are all working, but the right turn signal causes ALL of the lights running and tail to flash. All of the connections are clean and free of corrosion, and I have tested the fixture and all of the connections with a circuit tester and found them all to be sound. I have also tested the vehicle where the harness connects, and it also tested correctly. Tonight I disconnected the right turn/ right tail light fixture and was surprised to see that all of the trailer lights continued to flash! Any ideas? I’m thinking it might be a short in the right turn wire, hidden somewhere within the walls of the camper? Maybe a nick in the wiring? I’m thinking of disconnecting the right turn wire from the wiring harness and running a fresh wire around the exterior of the camper to test my theory..... Or should I be looking for a grounding problem?

I believe you are correct and the issue is that you have a short in the right turn signal wiring that is most likely shorting to the running light circuit. I think running a jumper wire from the trailer connector direclty to the taillight assembly will be your best move at this point to confirm this. If this fixes the problem one solution would be to just run an all new wire for the circuit so that you don't have to trace the hard to find wiring in your camper walls.
