Reese Strait Line Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 2017 Impact Toyhauler

Question:

I have 2018 chevy 2500hd crew cab. My trailer is 2017 impact toyhauler. Tongue weight is 1200 and weight of the camper is 12000lbs. Mostly just carry a eletric golf cart in it. Looking to get reese straight line but should I go for 1200 or 1500lb? Or is there a better option hitch with sway control.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Since your tongue weight is 1,200 lb the Strait Line system you'd need is the # RP66130 which is rated for up to 1,500 lb tongue weigh. For a shank we have the part # RP54970 which fits a 2 inch trailer hitch and for a hitch ball we have the Curt ball part # C40030.
