Which is Better for Cooling Transmission Temperatures Supplemental Cooler or Fan
Question:
As expertly recommended, I purchased your Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient Item # D13503inch product, but I was wondering if your Flex-a-lite 16inch LoBoy Auxiliary Electric Radiator Fan - 2,500 CFM - Pusher Item # FLX119inch would cool my Jeeps automatic transmission and engine as a big bonus better than the tranny ATF cooler kit. I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty 3.7L pulling a 19foot travel trailer near the Libertys max load rating, so I need all the cooling I can get!. Either unit would be front mounted for 100 airflow.

Helpful Expert Reply:
A supplemental transmission cooler like the Derale part # D13503 that you have would do a better job keeping the transmission fluid temperature down over adding a pusher fan to your current setup. Pusher fans aren't quite as efficient as puller fans and at highway speeds sometimes actually interfere with airflow since the wind comes in much harder.
