Can Front Bumper be Removed to Install the Curt # C19745 on a 2000 Ford F-150
Question:
I need to tow a 2000 F150 Lariat Extended Cab about 1000 miles one time. Will this tow bar work with the bumper removed to avoid drilling holes. This is a gift for a granddaughter.

The Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms # C19745 is a universal tow bar system and the instructions basically say to make sure to attach the clevis mounts to the frame of the vehicle. You can mount it to the bumper or you can remove the bumper to avoid drilling holes into the bumper as well. I have attached a link to the instructions for you to reference and a helpful article on making sure your tow bar is at the correct operating height.
For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system. Since the Curt # C19745 that you referenced basically counts as a base plate kit and the tow bar then you still need safety cables, some wiring (or lighting), and a braking system.
Since the Curt tow bar is rated for 5,000 lbs I recommend going with the Roadmaster Safety Cables # RM-643 which are rated a little higher at 6,000 lbs and feature a coiled design to keep them from dragging on the ground.
It sounds like this will be a one-time tow so I do recommend installing wiring and using a braking system that have the least amount of install. For wiring (lights) it would be best to go with detachable lights like the magnetic # TL21RK , and then a braking system like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR.
Also be sure to check the owner's manual for the F-150 for any specific instructions for flat towing.
