I spoke with the manufacturer about the 3d-Cal Butterfly Vehicle Decal # CR83303 that you referenced and my contact actually said that they have family who lives in Minnesota and has had similar decals on their vehicles for 5 years now so it will hold up really well in your Michigan weather.
To help the adhesive stick really well I would try to get the surface you are installing it on really clean prior to the install.
