Which is Better for Fifth Wheel Towing a 2500 or a 3500
Question:
We are trying to decide if we should get a Ram 2500 or a Ram 3500 dually, both diesels. The trailer we want is a cyclone 3611js with a dry weight of 15305. We will eventually be full timing with the truck and either that trailer or a different one. Wed like to be safe and not pushing the trucks capabilities. With all the different calculators for fifth wheel versus travel trailers.... Weve just become more confused and more unsure! Please help.... We have also looked into a 2500 with 4:10 gearing, but still we just dont know!

You'll want the 3500 if you are going to be towing full-time. The extra payload and towing capacity of the 3500 will give you a better towing experience. Dually, long-bed, diesel, 3500 trucks are the best for towing fifth wheel trailers easily.
The 2500 will have softer feeling suspension when not towing, but when towing the 3500 will give you a much more stable feel. I also attached a link to a help article that covers how to pick out the best truck for 5th wheel towing.
