Running Light Fuse Blows After Hookup with Large Trailer
Question:
I have a 4 car hauler and its brand new. The running light fuse on my 1 ton Dodge 3500 keeps blowing. The brake, blinker and flashers all work but the running light fuse blows. I replaced the Male and female connectors and that didnt fix the problem. Not sure where a short could be on a brand new trailer. What advice can you offer?

There are more than likely several clearance and marker lights on your trailer due to its size and they are all tied into the running light circuit which is then powered by your Dodge Ram 3500. If the fuse blows immediately after powering the lights then odds are you are exceeding the circuits maximum capacity. I recommend unplugging a few of the lights and seeing if the fuse still blows. If not then you know you have too much power drawing from the vehicles running light circuit but if it still blows then you have a short somewhere between the vehicle/trailer. If you have access to a different vehicle/trailer you can then narrow down if the issue is on the trailer and or vehicle. The running light circuit is usually a brown wire.
