Replacement Trailer Tire in Size ST235/80R16
Question:
when i substitute a 235/80/16 goodyear sts for a 245/75/16 LT the distance between tires is reduced to about 3/4 of an inch alum frame with torsion axles 9k boat wt. is this a possible safety issue. thanks

3/4 of an inch would not be enough clearance to have between the fender of your trailer and the tire. If the distance you mentioned is between the tires you'd need 2 inches there. You'll end up with quite a bit of rubbing. Your best option is to go with the same size your trailer had on it. We have a Provider Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E, Item # TTWTRTM2358016E, which is a ST235/80R16 just like what you had that would be a great solution.
