The best bike rack for your 2018 Toyota RAV4 will be a hitch-mounted option that allows you to open the rear hatch without having to unload the bikes. For this I highly recommend the Yakima FullSwing 4 Bike Rack # Y02464 as long as you have a 2 inch hitch receiver installed. This sturdy hanging-style rack features a hinged arm that allows you to swing the rack out and away from the rear of the vehicle to allow for complete access to the cargo area on your RAV4. It can handle up to 4 bikes with a total weight of 160 pounds. Locks are also included to secure the bikes to the rack and the rack to your RAV4.
I have attached a short video demonstration so you can get a better idea as to how it works and how it will look on your vehicle.
If you plan on carrying any children's, women's, or alternative style frame bikes you might also need an adapter bar like the Kuat # UB01. This will provide a horizontal attachment point for level transport and improved ground clearance. I have attached a video review on this product as well so you can see exactly how it works and why it might be needed.
If you don't yet have a trailer hitch installed, I recommend the etrailer Class III # e98864. This is confirmed to fit your RAV4, and it will use existing holes in its frame for a no-drill installation. For installation we usually just recommend finding a local shop with a good reputation. This is a pretty straightforward installation for a mechanic with some experience. I have attached an installation video and the written instructions as well.
