Why Cant Thule The Stacker Handle Kayaks Over 10 Feet Long

Why is the Th830 not recommended for kayaks over 10ft or ocean kayaks?

The Thule Stacker Kayak Carrier # TH830 referenced in your question isn't recommended for use with kayaks that are over 10 feet in length simply because securing a longer unit with this carrier may lead to damage on the kayaks. Because of its design, the kayaks will really just be resting right on the roof crossbars of your vehicle so there just isn't much support for longer kayaks or larger ocean kayaks.

For larger kayaks you will want to go with a J-style carrier like the Yakima JayLow # Y04073 that provides a more secure cradle for the kayak to rest in. This particular carrier includes tie-down straps and bow/stern tie-downs as well to further secure the kayak to the carrier and your vehicle.
