Can Prodigy P2 Brake Controller Be Installed in Dash Cubby Hole

Question:

I have installed a p2 in my 2017 Tacoma Limited. Per the attached pic, it is installed in the change cubby on the lower left side of the dashboard. Its a great and secure fit, but there is no ventilation for the back half of the unit. Im towing a single axle camper. Is this going to be OK or should I go to the trouble of making ventilation holes in the top of the cubby? Please advise.

You should be fine using your Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 in the dashboard cubby. The controller does not need to have ventilation holes in its housing so the designers were not too concerned about heat in normal use. But just the same you're wise to ask.

If you want to be sure your P2 is not running hot you can remove it from the cubby after towing for a few hours to see if the housing seems too warm. Certainly if it is not inconvenient to add some holes in the cubby you can certainly do so.
