Will Additional Transmission Cooler Drop Fluid Temperature Too Much on 2012 Chevy Tahoe

Question:

I want to install an additional transmission cooler on my Tahoe so I can tow my 3800lb camper. I was told that an additional cooler may cause the trans. temp to be too low when not towing, thus effecting the shift pattern of the transmission. Is this something I should be concerned about? Which cooler do you reccomend for this vehicle?

Transmission fluid on a vehicle like your Chevy Tahoe cannot be cooled too much. You do not need to worry about an additional cooler dropping the fluid temperature so much that it would affect your shifting or any other component on the vehicle.

The Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler # D13504 that you were looking at is a great option for your Tahoe. You will just want to make sure you have enough room between the grille and AC condenser for it to mount. This plate-fin cooler measures 11 inches wide, 12 inches tall, and 7/8 inch deep.

I have attached a short video demonstration on the cooler that you can check out along with the written installation instructions.
