Availability of Trailer Coupler With Mounting Hole Spacing of 2-1/8 Inches For 1983 Viscount Caravan

Question:

Im seeking a replacement coupler for my 1983 Viscount Caravan. The existing coupler is a German-made AL-KO product, no longer available, bearing the stamp: Kober K6 Zugkugelkupel AK 10/2. The model is M3749 GA rated to 1300kg. From the illustration, the Fulton may well suit asa replacement. However, the mounting holes located on the side of the original are spaced at 2 1/8. My question is, can matching holes be drilled in the Fulton without compromising its integrity? The new holes would likely be drilled to replace, therefore ahead of, the trailing holes.

Anytime you modify a part, it can compromise the safety and integrity of that product. I can not recommend to modify the Fulton Trailer Coupler, part # F222000301.

I do not have any bolt-on couplers with a mounting hole spacing of 2-1/8 inches. The mounting holes are all at the industry standard of 3 inches.
