Determining Weight Rating of Axles on Trailer
Question:
I bought a trailer with Fayette manufacturing company axles. There is a tag on one of them with two numbers 4. 62 02316 2450200170 Trying to determine what the axle GVW is, and the type of axle , mobile home or trailer axle. Also is there still parts around for these , brake shoes bearings etc I appreciate any information that you can provide

Most likely we have parts that will be compatible with your Fayette axles but unfortunately I wasn't able to locate any specific information for the axles on your trailer using the numbers that you found on the tag.
If they are round axles you can get a pretty good idea of their capacity based on the diameter. Round axles that have a 1-3/4 inch diameter have a 2,000 pound capacity and 2-3/8 inch diameter axles will have a 3,500 pound capacities. Larger 3 inch diameters can vary between 4,400 to 7,000 pound axles. You might also look for a main trailer tag near the coupler or along the frame that lists the trailer's GVWR. This will at least let you know how much weight you can load onto the trailer.
As far as looking for compatible hubs and bearings your best bet will be to pull an existing hub and check for the bearing numbers that are used. The numbers should be stamped right inside the bearings themselves. If you can't read or otherwise locate these numbers, you can also take a few measurements along the spindle where the bearings sit with a digital caliper that can measure to the nearest one thousandth. I have attached an image that shows where the measurements will be taken.
If you can give me these measurements or the bearing numbers, I will be happy to recommend a hub assembly or bearing kit that will be compatible.
