On the top of the Reese Elite Series Pop-In Ball Kit # RP30137 will be a black, spring loaded integrated lever to unlock and lock the ball to allow it to be removed or installed.
Basically, you would pull the lever up and the locking mechanism in the ball would release and allow the ball to be removed from the gooseneck hitch. To install it you would basically reverse this procedure.
I pulled the installation instructions up and here is how they describe the installation process:
Lift handle in center of the ball and rotate 90 degrees. Insert Gooseneck ball assembly in the receiver tube in the bed of the truck with the ball bearings oriented side to side of the truck bed, Turn the center handle 90 degrees so that it drops in the slit in the top of the ball. If the center handle does not retract fully, rotate the ball until the handle seats itself in the slot.
I attached installation instructions for the # RP30137 for you to check out also.
Check out the picture I attached that shows what the ball will look like when the lever is pulled up releasing the ball allowing it to be installed or removed.
