Troubleshooting Brake Controller Install of 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Where Only Works w Override

Question:

mY TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER QUIT WORKING FOR NO APPARENT REASON SO i WENT OUT AND BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT HOPPY 70225. GUESS WHAT? SAME PROBLEM. THE TRAILER BRAKES WORK IF I USE THE MANUAL OVERRIDE SWITCH SHOWING AMBER LIGHT. SO I TESTED THE WHITE WIRE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WORKS WHEN DEPRESSED. BUT THE SIGNAL IS NOT GETTING TO THE RED WIRE ON THE FACTORY TRAILER HARNESS. SO I SPLICED THE WHITE WIRE ON THE PEDAL COLD SIDE AND ATTACHED IT TO THE RED WIRE GOING TO THE BRAKE CONTROLLER AND NOW IT WORKS, BUT i DONT LIKE JURY RIGGING MY TRUCK.....SO WHERE MIGHT THE PROBLEM BE?..THANK YOU..

Your generation of truck (2005 Chevy Silverado) is notorious for blowing the third brake light fuse easily. And when this circuit dies if you have a brake controller installed using the factory brake controller wiring it will stop working with the brake pedal. So check and replace that fuse and you'll see the controller start working again.
