Why Does Thule Gateway Pro Fit 2015 Mazda 3 but not TH78VR
Question:
What is the difference between the TH88VR and the TH78VR besides the extra bike storage capacity? The manual states that the TH78VR is not compatible with the Mazda 3 four door sedan but the TH88VR is. What is the difference?

The only difference between the two Thule Gateway Trunk Racks part number # TH88VR and # TH78VR is the number of bikes each rack can carry. Thule does not recommend the 3 bike version for your vehicle since the additional weight of the third bike makes the rack weigh much more when installed and Thule doesn't like to put that much weight on your 2015 Mazda 3. It would fit just the same but it would possibly damage your vehicle to carry 3 bikes with it.
