Parts Needed to Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer with 2014 Ram 1500 5-1/2 ft Bed and Ram Box

I have a 2014 Ram Sport 1500 4x4 with factory air suspension and ram box. I would like the demco auto slide hitch with the Reese sidewinder. What installation kit do I need and do you think this will work ?

We can help you get setup to tow your fifth wheel trailer but you cannot use a Sidewinder with an automatic sliding hitch (nor would you need to since the Sidewinder takes care of the clearance problems.) The Sidewinder has to be used too in your application since you have a Ram Box and the Sidewinder is only way to prevent bed rail interference.

So what you'd need is a custom fit rail kit for your truck with a fixed hitch that's Sidewinder compatible.

So for that you'd want the custom rail kit part # RP50142-58 which is a custom fit for your 2014 Ram 1500 short bed and then for a fixed hitch you'd want the Reese RP30047 which would work great with a Sidewinder with the custom wedge # SWW-03.

You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
