Locating Replacement Parts for Older Atwood Landing Gear

Question:

My gear has stripped out on my 5th wheel. It appears these two gears are the replacement that I need. Atwood 71258 or RBW P-137. As Im sure you are aware, these parts are extremely hard to find. Is there an alternative to these gears?

As you mentioned in your question, replacement parts for your Atwood and RBW are extremely hard to find as the two companies are no longer in business. We do not have any alternative replacement gears that are confirmed to be compatible with your landing gear system.

Because of this your best option is likely to replace the entire landing gear system on your trailer, as replacement parts will be even harder to find if available at all further down the line. I recommend taking a look at the Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set # RP500708. These dual electric jacks will easily lower and elevate the trailer with just the flip of a switch. The measurement between the weld stops (from the bottom of the top weld stop to the top of the bottom weld stop) is 15-1/2 inches and the measurement from outside to outside on the weld stops is 17-1/2 inches.

You can compare these dimensions to the weld stops on your existing landing gear legs to see if these will bolt right up to current brackets. The system has a combined lift capacity of 8,000 pounds.
