How to Determine Bearing Dimensions to Select Replacement Trailer Hub
Question:
My inner bearing is a Bower BT1151 The outer is a Bower T09074 Hub replacement

Expert Reply:
My bearing cross reference does not include the Bower bearing numbers BT1151 and T09074 so in order to see if we have a hub that uses compatible bearings you'll want to measure your spindles
at the points C and D shown in the linked image. These are the points on the spindle where the inner and outer bearings ride.
You will need a precision digital caliper, so that you can measure precisely to the nearest thousandth of an inch, such as 1.234-inches. A new hub must use tapered roller bearings with the same dimensions as your existing ones so that it fits properly on your spindles.
The linked article details the most common sets of trailer wheel bearings (as well as races and grease seals) based on the axle weight rating. I also linked our main page for trailer hubs in various wheel bolt patterns and weight capacities. Included too is a link to our bearing page which can be sorted by dimension.
