Question:

I am looking to purchase a Sidewinder, but not sure which one to get. The hitch I have is a RBW Lil Rocker 15K. I have tried to locate the mfgr/model number of the OE pin box on the trailer a 1996 19 or 20 Nomad, but Im unable to locate the information. Any ideas?

Yes, we can determine if there is a Sidewinder replacement pin box available for your trailer. You will need to take 6 measurments since you cannot locate the pin box manufacturer and model number. I have added a numbered drawing, see link, that you can use to add dimensions to and then send them back to me. I can then match the dimensions of your trailer pin box to the dimensions for mounting a Sidewinder and determine the correct application, if one is available. For example the # RP61412 will fit a Lippert 1116 or 1716 bolt pattern. You will also need a custom wedge, # SWW-07, to prevent the king pin on the Sidewinder from pivoting in the RBW fifth wheel hitch.

Once you have determined if a sidewinder is available, you will need to determine if it will work with your truck and trailer. Measure the distance from the center of the king pin location on your RBW Lil Rocker 15K fifth-wheel hitch to the back window of your F-150. Add 22 inches to that measurement for the Sidewinder. Next measure the overall width of the front of your trailer loft. Divide this measurement by 2. If 1/2 the width of the trailer loft is 4 inches shorter than the first measurement you took, you will have clearance for making 90 degree turns with your truck trailer and hitch combination.

If your truck has a very short bed, like 5-1/2 feet, you may need to remove the tail gate, or install a fifth-wheel tailgate, when towing your 1996 Nomad fifth-wheel trailer.
