Upgrading Reese Spring Bar Recommendation for Tongue Weight Over 800 lb
Question:
Good morning, I have a Reese Daul Cam System with trunnion bars rated at 800 lbs. and am going to a trailer with an unloaded hitch weight of 685 lbs. Will these bars work or should I upgrade? Thank-you,

Helpful Expert Reply:
Most likely you'd need to upgrade the spring bars, but in reality it depends on how much tongue weight you'll end up with when loaded. If the trailer won't have much cargo loaded on it at all and the tongue weight stays under 800 lbs you'd be fine. But if you end up over 800 like I think you will you'd want to upgrade the bars to the trunnion 600-1,200 lb bars like part # RP58369 which will work with the Dual Cam setup you have as well.
