When determining if you will be able to transport a motorcycle with a hitch-mounted carrier on your 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport you first need to locate the vehicle's tongue weight capacity. This information should be listed in your copy of the owner's manual under its towing specifications. If a specific tongue weight limit isn't listed then it is usually 10 percent of the vehicle's towing capacity.

Land Rover doesn't make their owner's manuals available online so I wasn't able to find a specific number, but based on my research it looks like your vehicle has an overall towing capacity of around 4,500 pounds depending on its specific factory package. This will put your tongue weight limit at around 450 pounds if this is accurate. If you find this to be correct after looking at your owner's manual then you may be able to load up one of your motorcycles with a hitch-mounted carrier but not both at the same time.

The etrailer Motorcycle Carrier # e98873 that you were looking at is a really nice carrier that features plenty of capacity for one of your bikes. Its track width is 5 inches and the carrier's overall length is 76 inches. It is compatible with 2 inch trailer hitch receivers.

If you don't yet have a trailer hitch on your Land Rover I recommend the Curt Class III Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C13396 as long as you don't have the "5+2" seating on your vehicle. This hitch will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation and all the needed hardware is included.
