How Is Breakaway Battery on Trailer Charged
Question:
Is the break away battery charged by the tow vehicles trailer light wiring or does it need to be changed separately?

The breakaway battery like what is included with the Hopkins Trailer Breakaway Kit # 20099 will use the 12V circuit from the tow vehicle's 7-Way connector to maintain its charge while you're towing. I have attached a wiring diagram for how to set up a breakaway kit on a trailer that you might also find helpful.
