How to Wire Up a 7-way on a Vehicle to Power Prodigy RF Brake Controller
Question:
I believe this is the part i need to update my factory 4 pin plug to a 7 way flat connector to handle the electric brakes on my trailer. Where does the blue wire go when using a Tekonsha Prodigy RF Electronic remote hand held brake control that plugs into the cigarete lighter ?

This Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole Vehicle End Trailer Connector # 30717 would work well for using a Tekonsha Prodigy RF Brake Controller # TK94FR. To power the # TK94FR, it is only necessary to connect the 12v power wire and ground wire on your 4 to 7-Way adapter.
If you have a part # 30717, the ground wire should be white and the power wire is typically black or red. The remaining wires can be tied off.
To prepare the adapter to hook up the brake controller, you will attach the ground wire to a clean metal area on the vehicle frame, and the 12v wire will be run into the engine compartment and connected to the positive battery terminal on your vehicle. A circuit breaker will be installed in line on the black wire. You will use a 40amp circuit breaker like our part # 9510.
I attached some helpful links for you to check out also.
In standard brake controller and 7-Way connector installations, the blue electric brake wire is run between the 7-Way at the rear of the vehicle and the blue wire coming off the brake controller itself. Since the Prodigy RF is powered at the rear of the vehicle, this connection is not required.
