How to Correctly Connect Wires for a 7-Way Socket on a 2003 GMC Sierra  

Question:

Have a 2003 gmc. Im putting a new 7 pin connector on for trailer lights and cant find a diagram of what colors to what pins. Poles are 1,2,3,4,5,6,and 7 Colors are red, brown, green ,blue ,dark green yellow and big black

Whenever you are splicing wiring and you don't know what wire is for which function the best way to be sure that everything is installed correctly is to test your wires with a Circuit Tester # PTW2992. Even if there were a chart that showed the colors for your 2003 GMC Sierra the factory may have used some different wire colors or if you aren't the first owner someone else could have changed the wiring color as well.

Once you know which wires are for which functions you simply need to connect your wires to the plug, like part # PK12-707E, according to the attached picture. Please note that this view is as if you were facing the end where you plug your trailer into.
