How to Easily Load Two Kayaks on a 2012 Honda Odyssey

Question:

Hello - I have a 2012 Honda odyssey with factory roof rails. I would like to be able to carry two kayaks. Since it may be just my 10yo daughter and I out at times, I need a way to get the kayaks on the roof myself. The malone lift assist device seems like a good idea in my situation. I am not sure how much overhang I need to have in order to be able to use the lift assist on both sides of the van. Would 65inch crossbars allow me to load a kayak on both sides of the van, using the device? Or would I need to go even longer? Also, should malone cross bars be compatable with yakima, thule, or other brands of cargo boxes? Thanks.

In order to carry two kayaks on your 2012 Honda Odyssey, I recommend using the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack part # MPG216 with the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier part # MPG114MD and the Malone TelosXL Load Assist Module part # MPG351XL.

The AirFlow2 will allow you to mount both kayaks using the carrier with the load assist in addition to most cargo boxes from Yakima, Thule, Rhino Rack etc. The load assist bars are angled and have height adjustments so you do not need to worry about any overhang issues. The 58" long cross bars will be sufficient for use with the kayaks, carrier, and load assist.

I have attached review videos for you as well.
