Does Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Need Power to be Manually Adjusted
Question:
I purchased the Tekonsha p2 Brake Control 1-4 axles - Proportional for my 2013 Toyota Tacoma. Installation was very simple. My question is regarding setup. Will the controller automatically set itself once I start towing the trailer or do I need to manually adjust the settings?

The power to your trailer brakes does need to be manually adjusted with the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885.
The linked instructions show exactly what you need to do to adjust the power, which is as follows:
1. Connect trailer to tow vehicle.
2. With engine running hold manual full left and set Output/Gain to indicate approximately 5.0.
3. Drive tow vehicle and trailer on a dry level paved surface at 25 mph and fully apply manual control.
- If trailer brakes lock up: Turn power down using Output/Gain Buttons.
- If braking was not sufficient: Turn power up using Output/Gain Buttons.
4. Repeat Step (3) until power has been set to a point just below wheel lock up or at a sufficient force as to achieve maximum braking power.
5. Using the brake pedal, make a few low speed stops to check the power setting. Trailer braking is initiated and terminated via the stoplight switch. When the brake pedal is released, trailer braking will cease.
