A single red dot on the Draw-Tite Activator IV # 5504 that you referenced means that a trailer is not connected currently. If you have the trailer plugged into your tow vehicle the issue is most likely due to a dirty trailer wiring connector preventing contact from being made. You'd want to clean the pins on your trailer wiring first which will most likely fix the problem.
