Can a 2004 Toyota 4Runner V8 w/Towing Option Pull a 1978 Ford F-250 Crew Cab 4WD on Tow Dolly

Question:

After reading quite a few reviews and questions, it appears that our vehicle would be able to comfortably tow a ‘78 F-250 Crew Cab 4WD on a tow dolly. 1,100 miles one way. Your thoughts ?

With a very basic search I see your 2004 4Runner can tow between 5,000 and 7,300 lbs. Knowing you have the towing option, means you will be on the high end of that. You will need to weigh your truck and see if you will be able to stay within capacity.

The bigger issue here is that you will have a problem finding a tow dolly with the capacity you need for that truck. You most likely will need to tow it on a trailer.

For instance our tow dolly; # RM-2050-1 rated for 4,250 lbs. This option will not come close to the weight of your truck.
