Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

Question:

What hitch do you recommend? Will I need to drill the holes and will it fit around my full size spare tire? thanks

For your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, I recommend the Curt Class IV Receiver Hitch part # C14020 if your truck was built before 11/1/02 or part # 14361 if your truck was built after 11/1/02. The white tag on the driver door jamb will tell you the date the truck was manufactured.

Neither of the above hitches will require any drilling for installation as they install using pre drilled holes in the frame rail. The spare tire will also remain in place and unaffected by either trailer hitch.
